The Houston E. Mull FFA Memorial Scholarship Cattle Drive is held annually during the first week of November in honor of Houston E. Mull, an active farmer and FFA member from Marshall, MO, who was the victim of a vehicle accident in 2004 at the age of 15. Houston wanted nothing more than to be a farmer and produce food for our nation. The event, now in its fourth year, generates scholarships for other young agricultural enthusiasts.

The 2007 cattle drive was the largest yet with 300 horses and cattle and 75 riders. As part of the route, the group made its way through the town of Malta Bend, MO. When it did, Houston's horse (right) took the lead.

Riders of all ages from across the country headed out early Saturday morning and drove a herd of longhorn steers down the Mull Trail.

A benefit auction and cookoff raised more than $20,000 for scholarships for young agricultural enthusiasts and $3,000 in donations for the local cancer hospital. Cancer proceeds were raised through the auction as well as photo opportunities on Trent Loos' pink mule.

A U.S. flag that flew at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on October 1, 2007, was an item in this year's benefit auction. Trent Loos proudly carried the flag on this year's drive.
